I love that name! :D :highfive:

I want to buy a fursuit, and/or make one, but I don't know how.

Do you think making a fursuit is hard? It looks challenging, but not something impossible. What's your opinion?

I have been making a fursuit recently. My fursona is a herp - a crocodile named Gyro. right now I'm on my 3rd attempt and this time it's what I want so if you try over and over again you'll get it!!

RAWR~! Wanna be friends?? I can help you through it if you'd like :)

Oh! Okay!
I love the idea of a crocodile as a fursona! ;)
Do you have any photos of what you have so far

Well, the help is nice, but I still haven't decided. Besides, I'm kind of young and I don't want to grow out of the suit.

I'd recommend doing a partial if you're 13 :)
It's easier, takes less time, less materials and you can't really grow out of it. Even if you do grow out of the footpaws and handpaws they arent that hard to make! So just focus on your design and try starting with the head!

Remember to be creative!!!

oh this is awesome!
I'm fairly new to this suiting business, so I hope I'm successful with the foam as you are!
If there was a class in high school for this, I would have took it so I don't have to guess how to go about this
Where do you get the foam and elastics? I'm not sure I'm familiar with any local places or online websites that sell these materials

does glue work alone? or do you have to sew a little too?

with the fur, I would not suggest glueing. 'tis messy and looks messy. it does help to keep the fur on after sewing though, I tack my fur down around the edges. but, all the fur should be sewn together first.

upholstery foam works well. It's light weight and you can cut it fairly well. Mind you it's an absolute pain to shape but it works wonders. Be sure to use a low-temp glue gun when you're sticking everything together though or else you'll melt it.

This is a georgeous fursuit! I never really thought about using a balaclava for the base of the mask, but maybe someday I'll try it. It looks a lot easier (and quicker) than building from plastic mesh...O_o' Which I learned can take a Looooong time.... :silentkitty:

Perhaps I can help. I'm in the process of making my own fur head right now so it's still fresh in my head. What you need to start off with is a styrofoam blank (one of those heads people stick wigs on) and some plaster strips. You need to make a form cast of your own face in order to get the mask to form fit you just right. After you've got those, attach them together so you have an entire head. Take the top part of a pair of nylons (buy a new pair!) and stretch it over the entire head. Glue 1/4 in. foam over the entire head, following the general pattern as seen above. Build off of that and then find yourself a few good heads to base your design off of and start creating. Be sure the hot glue you use to connect the foam together is low-temp. If you'd like a quick sketch of what I mean, just drop me a note with your e-mail and I'll send one over to ya. Hope that helps!

The ears I'm going to be making on my fursuit are somewhat similar to this, the inside of the ears I mean. What kind of material is that pink part of the ears?

Wow, you know I was wondering how you constructed your heads. What I really like about them is that they're quite porportional to the human body (not all clunky and whatnot) and look quite comfortable to wear. Thanks for posting these construction pieces, they're really fun to look at!

Yeah, big heads CAN look okay with certain suits, but I personally prefer the smallet sized ones to stay proportionate.
